Women: The Short Cut Files

Men and women have different hair. As a stylist, that’s common sense, right? So when cutting a shorter style for women, we need to approach it differently than we do when cutting men’s hair. Milady offers a tip to keep in mind when you have a female customer requesting a shorter cut.

One of the main differences between cutting women’s hair and cutting men’s hair is that men’s cuts usually appear more angular whereas women’s cuts may be more rounded and soft looking. This is important to keep in mind, especially when sculpting short hairstyles for women. Just because the hair is short doesn’t mean that it has to look masculine. Points and curves along the design line, rather than straight horizontal lines, will soften the look of a woman’s short cut.
